Hi. This is Tova, and I'm Declan's 12-year-old older sister. Of course it hasn't been easy having a little brother with epilepsy. But we've learned to adjust. Actually, Declan having Epilepsy has made him a really interesting unique person, no matter how different he is. He's always laughing and smiling all the time, through almost any circumstance... But I am definitely not saying that he can't be annoying sometimes. Sometimes, when I get mad at him for doing something, my mom or dad pulls me aside and explains that that he can't help it. Of course, this only makes me more frustrated, but sometimes he really can't. But no matter what, I love him to bits and wouldn't want him any other way. :-)
Thank you for sharing your perspective with us, Tova. I can hear in your words how challenging it can be, and also how much you love Declan. I remember when my daughter was sick, people gave a lot of attention to her, and my son sometimes felt forgotten. He is 21-years old now, and his experiences as Hannah's big brother definitely made him a better and stronger man. I know that you are an exceptional person too. <3
